The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is a civil rights law that requires (among other things) equal access to public transportation for people with disabilities.

Accessible fixed route bus service is intended to be the primary mode of public transportation for people with disabilities. All of our fixed route buses are wheelchair accessible. Anyone needing to use the wheelchair ramp can do so at any bus stop where we're able to safely deploy it. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee an accessible path of travel to and from all stops.  Before using a new bus stop, please preview your path of travel to make sure it will be accessible for you.

The ADA also requires us to provide paratransit service for people whose disabilities prevent them from using fixed routes. Paratransit is intended to offer a level of service comparable to our fixed route service.

ADA Complaints

WTA has established a process for investigating and resolving complaints alleging any action prohibited by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Any person who believes she or he has been subjected to discrimination on the basis of disability may file a complaint under this procedure. It is against the law to retaliate against anyone who files a complaint or cooperates in the investigation of a complaint.

Our ADA Policy contains all WTA policies related to the ADA.
