Notes About Fares

Free Fares for Youth

Youth can ride all buses for free, including the paratransit. No pass is required. Just let your driver know you're 18 or younger when you step on board. If you are riding the 80X to Skagit, a free youth pass is required.

Stored Value and Fare Capping

With stored value, you can add any amount of money to your Umo account. This money can then be used to pay your fare, one trip at a time. Stored value never expires, and can be used on any fixed route bus. It can also be used on Route 80X, and any route offered by Skagit Transit.

When you pay a fare using stored value, fare capping sets a “cap” or limit on the total amount you’ll pay, within a day or a calendar month. Once you hit that limit, all rides are free until the end of that day or month. The cap is set at the price of our other passes. So for example if you pay $1 per trip for 30 trips between the first and 15th of a month (which adds up to $30), the rest of your trips that month are free. Fare capping happens automatically, whenever you’re using your Umo Card or Umo Mobile App.
