SafeWatch

We're Watching Out For You...

How Does SafeWatch Work?
Think of every WTA bus as a safe haven and your direct link to any local emergency service. WTA buses and Specialized Transportation vehicles are in your community on a regular schedule every day to pick up passengers, but they are also on the lookout for people in distress or any suspicious activity.

How Do I Stop A Bus When I Really Need One?
You can signal a bus to stop for an emergency by crossing your arms over your head and waving your arms. But remember, you should only use this method of stopping a WTA bus for an emergency.

WTA operators are trained to identify emergency situations and suspicious criminal activity. In addition, WTA operators work directly with law enforcement officers whenever they can help. So you can trust them too.

When Is It Appropriate To Use SafeWatch?
If You:

  • fear you are being followed or you are approached by a threatening stranger.
  • ever get lost or separated from your friends or family.
  • are being bullied or threatened by someone.
  • become injured, fall off your bike, or need first aid.
  • witness an accident, crime, or fire.
  • need to access a police officer for an emergency.
  • come home and find your house has been burglarized.
  • miss your school bus and no one is home.

The SafeWatch Program is made possible by generous support from the following organizations:
